INSIDER INFO

Located in the northwest is the famous port capital of Casablanca (Dar-el-Beida), Morocco’s largest city. The name often evokes the romance of the 1945 film starring but the reality of the city differs a little. A lively city where you will indulge in a variety of hand crafts, delicious food and vibrant colours from spices lying in mounds across market stalls.

Casablanca’s medina represents the oldest surviving part of the city and dates back to the rebuilding carried out by Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah after the 1755 earthquake destroyed the city.

The coastline of Casablanca is surprisingly stunning. La Corniche is the most popular beachside area where you’ll find a selection of luxury hotels and restaurants, as we’ll as beach clubs. The winds of the Atlantic and Mediterranean make for brilliant surfing conditions, especially in the nearby Essaouira.

The modern identity of Casablanca is all about progress and development. It’s not as atmospheric as other towns or cities but it’s steeped in history and we recommend exploring
