HALAS is a very distinctive-looking vessel – obviously a classic, with a three-storey deck house providing tons of cabin space. She has a fascinating history, beginning life in a Scottish shipyard in 1914, the outbreak of war meant the UK government cancelled her delivery. By 1918 she’d found her way to Turkey where she was a Bosphorus ferry for 65 years. Coming into private ownership in the 1980s, she was transformed in a huge two-year refit, joining the superyacht charter fleet in 2010. Sympathetically restored in a traditional style using dark woods and elegant linens, she boasts 12 double suites full of natural light. The guest areas are expansive but kept intimate: the main dining area has several smaller tables and there are several cosy saloons. On deck there are plenty of steamer recliners and small tables for drinking while enjoying the views. She can host events for up to 120 – ideal for a wedding or corporate get-together: up to 60 guests can dine below decks, 42 above – with 24 sleeping on board. HALAS is a great option for those who are planning big events, perhaps an anniversary cruise for family and friends.
