Yacht Charters Milos

Explore The Quaint Town Of Milos In Adamas

A quaint town in the Cyclades with crystal clear waters, ancient history, and stunning landscapes, the port of Adamas is a popular stop for those on a yacht charter to Milos and the surrounding Cyclades islands. One of the biggest settlements on Milos, Adamas attracts the yachting crowds, pulling in to berth in its marina after exploring the beautiful coastline around Milos island. Adamas itself sits in a big, natural bay, where restaurants, bars and cafes are aplenty. No matter what time of the day or night you tender to its shores, Adamas is lively and welcoming with authentic Greek hospitality and natural wonder.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

A private yacht charter to Milos is best booked between May and September. The Cyclades islands cool down significantly after the summer, thanks to the open breeze from the Aegean Sea. After September, seasonal workers move back to other parts of Greece, and locals enjoy a break from the bustling pace of summer.

Conserving all their energy in those cooler months allows inhabitants of Milos to turn it up for the summer crowds.

The height of the season in Adamas is June, July and August. Daily temperatures sit in the high 20°Cs, sometimes reaching above 30°C. The bay is busy, restaurants booked out, and beaches filled with bronzed bodies. The on-water energy is high as luxury yacht charters of Milos cruise the coastline, and guests dip in the sea and sun themselves on deck.

What’s great about this location is that the shoulder months, too, offer incredible weather. Sitting in the mid to high 20°Cs, May and September offer spectacular days. The water is still warm enough for a swim. The only precaution one needs to take is to bring a shawl or light overshirt for the cooler evenings once the sun has set.

Activities & Experiences

The must-do activities on Milos centre around the sea, but a visit to these shores warrants a stop at Adamas to experience a taste of the history and culture here. And you don’t want to miss a taste of the local cuisine.

Two churches impose a sense of grandeur in the port town of Adamas, Agia Triada Church and the Church of Kimisi tis Theotokou.

Within Agia Triada is the Ecclesiastical Museum, where you can discover religious artefacts, including rare books, icons, precious gold and silver objects, wood carvings and iconostases. All within the Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) church, built back in the 9th century AD.

Atop the tallest hill in Adamas sits the Church of Kimisi tis Theotokou with exquisite icons and iconostasis. You can find beautiful mosaics in the courtyard designed by famed artist Giagos Kavroudakis.

When you’re done with Amadas town, take your charter to Milos and visit the Catacombs of Milos and the Ancient Theatre of Milos. Both are built into the rocks to form sights that are just unbelievable and utterly spectacular.

After exploring the entire island, Nostos Seafood Experience is our absolute favourite restaurant. Sitting on an outdoor terrace over the water, you can watch the crystal blue sea from where local fishers have caught your fresh daily seafood.

If you’re simply dying for an authentic Greek snack, Let’s Meat, Yankos and O Gyros Tis Milous serve up some of the best gyros and souvlaki on the island.

Near Adamas are two particularly lovely beaches, Papikinou and Lagada.

Papikinou beach is a place to relax, where sunbeds dot the soft sand and trees shade the parameters of the beach. Out on the water, this is the ideal spot to take the jet ski for a spin or just casually float atop the clear azure sea.

Hidden from the main crowd a little more than Papikinou, Lagada beach attracts a more adventurous crowd. Kayaks can be rented on the beach, and the adventurous are rewarded with epic views along the coastline.

Take your boat charter to Milos and visit Sarakinio beach for amazing landscapes and stunning scenery. The white rock formations here are unlike anything you will have seen in your life. This is an experience not to be missed.
