BEST TIME TO VISIT
All throughout the season, you can expect temperatures to sit around 27°C during the day, cooling to a balmy 20°C at night; the perfect reprieve from the sun-soaked Mediterranean days.
Our advice? Head to Spetses in September for the Armata—a festival of boats, music and celebrations held every year. Or line up your charter with the regatta, held in early October, for an action-packed weekend of yacht racing and vintage boats setting sail.
Activities & Experiences
While on a private boat charter in Spetses, there are a few activities you won't want to miss. We recommend:
Explore the rich history of the island
Head to the old port of Spetses Town and marvel at the 18th-century mansions that line the streets. For a real taste of luxury, arrange to have dinner at one of these grandiose buildings. Or wander around and stop in at any one of the many trendy bars and restaurants. History buffs will enjoy a visit to Spetses' museums, including the Museum of Spetses, housed in a grand Venetian mansion. This museum is dedicated to the history of the Greek War of Independence and is well worth a visit. And Bouboulina's Museum, a tribute to one of Spetses' most famous residents. This museum is located in the home of Laskarina Bouboulina, a heroine of the Greek War of Independence.
Take advantage of your exclusive access to the water
Around the island, there are so many beautiful sheltered beaches to explore. On a Spetses yacht charter, you have exclusive access to some of the best places, lesser-known by those travelling around on land. Our favourites include Zogeria Beach, Agia Marina and Kounoupitsa Beach. You could also venture further from Spetses coastline and spend a day exploring the nearby islands of Hydra, Dokos and Poros. Each island has its own unique charm, the perfect addition to your yacht charter itinerary if you have the time to spare.
Taste the flavours of the Mediterannean
Dine at Tarsanas Fish Tavern, located in the old port of Spetses Town. This seafood restaurant is beloved by locals and tourists alike, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. Other high-end bites can be found at Gaia and Poseidonio. Or, if you're craving the Greece classics, such as Souvlaki, or grilled meats, check out Psarou Beach Taverna for traditional cuisine by the sea. Or Kounoupitsa Tavern for delicious grilled meats.
Take an afternoon off your feet
Attracting high-class visitors, Spetses offers many luxury spas and wellness centres. The Poseidonion Grand Hotel is a beautiful Belle Époque hotel with an excellent spa. Here you can enjoy a range of treatments, such as massages, facials and more. Alternatively, visit the Diousses Spa & Hammam for a traditional Turkish bath experience or Ayurveda treatments. Or, if you're feeling active, take a yoga class at Yoga by the Sea. Koundouriotis Mansion, too, offers a range of treatments, as well as a stunning pool area if you just want to simply relax in the sun.
