The idea of the week

For the group that is here for St Barths. Everything within two hours of St Maarten, so the days are for the water and the nights are for Gustavia. Anguilla first for the beaches and the slowest day of the week, then an uninhabited island off St Barths where you will be the only boat, then three nights in St Barths with the weekend in the middle, and a French-side dinner to finish.

Total cruising for the week is about six hours. Superyacht charters start on any day of the week, so the route stands on its own. If you want the crowd and the DJs in St Barths, we line your dates up so those two nights fall on a Friday and Saturday. Legs are approximate, at a steady ten knots, and the captain adjusts them for the weather on the day.

What the crew arrange along the way

The beach picnic

The crew land a table, chairs, umbrellas and a kitchen on a beach with nobody else on it and cook lunch there. Anguilla is the best place in the Caribbean for one; the crew will find the others.

A themed day or night on board, at least one

The Caribbean is about the boat, so we plan at least one themed day or night. Tell us the idea before the charter and the crew have the costumes and decorations ready: pirate night is the classic.

The toys, every day

Seabobs, paddleboards, wakeboards, the slide if the yacht has one. In the Caribbean the water is the point, and the crew have them in by the time breakfast is cleared.

Day by day

1

Anguilla

Anguilla, northern Leewards · 11 nm · 1 h · Board at midday, sunset at Elvis'

Board in Simpson Bay around midday and be at anchor off Anguilla an hour later. First swim off the stern, then the tender to Elvis' shack in Rendezvous Bay for the sunset: a piña colada, music from a speaker, hammocks, and locals who have been coming for years.

  • An hour from boarding to anchor
  • Sunset at Elvis' Beach Bar
  • Dinner on board, early night
2

Anguilla

Anguilla, northern Leewards · 2 nm · 15 min · The beach picnic

The slowest day of the week and the one people remember. The crew land a table and a kitchen on Rendezvous Bay or Sandy Island and cook lunch there, with the yacht anchored in view. Toys all afternoon, beach cricket for the Australians, and a swim back to the boat.

  • The crew's beach picnic on the sand
  • Sandy Island, a sandbar with a bar
  • Toys and beach cricket all afternoon
3

Île Fourchue

Île Fourchue, off St Barths · 19 nm · 2 h · The island nobody else goes to

Two hours east to a horseshoe of volcanic rock four miles off St Barths with nothing on it: no road, no house, no bar. The snorkelling along the boulders is the best in the area, there is a hike up the ridge for the view across to St Barths, and the only lights at night are yours.

  • The uninhabited island off St Barths
  • Snorkelling along the boulders
  • A night with no other boat in sight
4

St Barths

St Barths, northern Leewards · 4 nm · 30 min · Gustavia, Nao, the first night out

Half an hour into Gustavia and the week changes gear. Lunch at Nao, Ellie's favourite beach club, or La Guérite on the harbourfront, then the boutiques along the quay, a swim at Shell Beach, and dinner at Bonito on the hill with the harbour lit below. Then Le Ti if the table wants to dance.

  • Lunch at Nao or La Guérite
  • Shell Beach, a swim from the tender dock
  • Bonito, then Le Ti St Barth
5

St Barths

St Barths, northern Leewards · Stay · Beach clubs, the DJ night

The Saturday. A quiet morning swim at the north-west corner before anyone is up, then Nikki Beach or Shellona for the lunch that does not end. Gouverneur by tender for anyone who wants an empty beach instead. Dinner at Bagatelle or La Guérite and the DJ until late. Party group? We check who is playing before we fix the dates.

  • Nikki Beach or Shellona for lunch
  • Gouverneur and Saline by tender
  • The DJ night in Gustavia
6

St Barths

St Barths, northern Leewards · 2 nm · 15 min · The quiet side

Out of the harbour to the quiet north-west corner for the day: a crescent of sand reachable only by boat or footpath, turtles under the hull, the hills behind. A long lunch on deck, a paddle to the beach, dinner on board under the stars. The themed night, if it is a night, is tonight.

  • The quiet corner of St Barths
  • Turtles under the boat
  • A themed night on board, if tonight is the one
7

St Maarten, the French side

St Maarten, northern Leewards · 15 nm · 1.5 h · Tintamarre, then Grand Case

An hour and a half back west to Tintamarre, the flat island off St Maarten's north-east corner, for a last swim and lunch at anchor. Then round to Grand Case, the French village with a street of restaurants on the water, for the farewell dinner.

  • Tintamarre for the last swim
  • Grilled lobster at a lolo on the beach
  • Farewell dinner in Grand Case
8

Simpson Bay

St Maarten, northern Leewards · 9 nm · 1 h · Disembark

An hour round to Simpson Bay after breakfast. The airport is ten minutes from the dock.

  • Breakfast on the move
  • Ten minutes from dock to airport
