What is a Lagoon?

Lagoon has built catamarans in Bordeaux since 1984 and is now far and away the largest builder of them anywhere — part of Groupe Beneteau, with naval architecture by VPLP and interiors by Nauta Design. The range runs from 12-metre cruisers to the 24-metre Seventy 7, plus the Sixty 7 and Seventy 8 power catamarans.

A catamaran charters differently to a monohull, and that difference is the whole point: no heel, so drinks stay on the table and nobody feels seasick; shallow draft, so you anchor close in where the deep-keeled boats cannot; and a bridgedeck saloon level with the cockpit, so thirty people can move around without anyone squeezing past. Cabins sit out in the hulls, which means couples get real privacy rather than a curtain.
