About the Azimut Grande 27 Metri

The Grande 27 Metri is a 26.78-metre motor yacht from Italian builder Azimut, first launched in 2017 with exterior lines by Stefano Righini and interiors by Rome-based designer Achille Salvagni. Its defining idea is the wide-body design: rather than tucking the owner's cabin below deck, as most boats this size do, Azimut built the superstructure, main deck and hardtop from lightweight carbon fibre and pushed the living spaces out to the hull's full width. The weight saved created room for a full-width owner's suite on the main deck, wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass — accommodation normally reserved for much larger yachts.

For a week aboard, the layout works like a much bigger boat. The owner's suite takes the full width of the main deck forward, while four en-suite guest cabins sit below — up to ten guests in the five-cabin version. The wheelhouse is raised half a level, so the crew can move about without crossing guest spaces. Days are spent on the flybridge, the open-air top deck, with dining and sunbeds under a carbon-fibre hardtop, or at the stern, where the garage door folds down flat to form a swimming platform at the waterline. The garage stows a 4.5-metre Williams jet tender.

Demand proved the concept: the first ten hulls had sold before the yacht's public debut at the 2017 Cannes festival, Azimut planned to build around ten a year, and new examples were still being delivered as recently as 2024. Its nearest rivals are the Sunseeker 90 Ocean, the Sirena 88 and similar-sized Princess and Sanlorenzo models, yet reviewers at Motor Boat & Yachting could find no competitor offering a main-deck owner's suite at this length — that cabin is why people choose it. Twin 1,900-horsepower MAN engines give 28 knots flat out, or a range of about 1,085 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Best for owners and charter parties of up to ten who want a superyacht-style main-deck master suite without stepping up to the size, crew and running costs of a 30-metre-plus yacht.
