The idea of the week
Raja Ampat holds more coral species than anywhere else on earth, three quarters of every kind known, and more than 1,500 reef fish. This is THE ORACLE's northern loop: Sorong to Wayag and back through the Dampier Strait over seven nights, with the manta cleaning stations, the limestone karsts and the two viewpoints everyone has seen a photograph of.
The rhythm is one anchorage a day. Dive or snorkel in the morning when the light is on the reef, a long lunch as the boat moves, an island or a lagoon by kayak in the afternoon, and sunset from the deck. Six guests, ten crew, so the tender is always ready and nobody waits for anyone.
Fly into Sorong from Jakarta direct, or from Bali with one stop, and the crew meet you at the airport. Check-in is from eight in the morning and the boat sails the same day.

Guided water every day
Snorkel, dive, kayak or paddleboard with the crew at each anchorage, with the tender standing by. Intro dives for anyone who has never tried.
The two viewpoints
Piaynemo's stairs and Wayag's Mount Pindito, both climbed early, both with coffee waiting on deck afterwards.
Evenings on deck
A beach barbecue at Wayag, sunset cocktails at Wofoh, spa treatments on board and yoga on the foredeck for anyone who wants it.
Day by day
Sorong to Mioskon · Board, brief, and the first crossing to Mioskon
The team meet you at the airport or your hotel and a short transfer brings you to the harbour and the tender. Settle in, meet the crew, a safety briefing over lunch, and the first crossing to Mioskon, a calm introduction to the islands before the reefs proper start tomorrow.
Mansuar, Dampier Strait · The reef that set the world record for species on one dive
Mansuar sits in the Dampier Strait and its point, Cape Kri, is where a single dive logged more fish species than any other on record. Schools of barracuda and batfish, reef sharks, turtles. The bays behind are calm enough for snorkelling, a first dive, paddleboards and kayaks.
Waigeo and Gam · A river between two islands, and the red bird of paradise at dawn
Wake to birdsong and cruise to the narrow channel between Waigeo and Gam, a saltwater river under overhanging jungle where the tide runs both ways and no two passes are the same. Early risers can go ashore for a short jungle trek to see the red bird of paradise displaying before the heat.
Melissa's Garden below, the viewpoint above
The postcard. Dive or snorkel Melissa's Garden and Anita's Garden, coral so dense there is no sand between it, then climb the wooden stairs to the lookout over the turquoise lagoons and the karst islets. An optional night dive after dinner, or a treatment from the spa therapist on deck.
The karsts, a hike, a beach barbecue and the stars
Wayag's limestone karsts, white sand and hidden lagoons are what Raja Ampat looks like in your head. Start early with the hike up Mount Pindito for the panorama, then explore the lagoons by kayak or paddleboard; juvenile mantas and blacktip sharks patrol the shallows. The crew set a barbecue on the beach and you go back aboard for the stars.
Two islands, one sandbar, and the Black Forest
Two islands joined by a sandbar, with flat clear water on both sides for kayaks and paddleboards. Divers take Black Forest, a slope of black coral with bumphead parrotfish and trevally. Sunset cocktails on deck and dinner under the stars.
Batanta · Mantas at the cleaning stations, then the run home
The nutrient-rich water of the Dampier Strait draws reef and oceanic mantas to feed and to the cleaning stations, and dolphins are often about. A last morning in the water, and in the evening the boat begins the return towards Sorong.
Breakfast and the transfer
Breakfast on board, goodbyes to the crew, and the transfer to the airport or your hotel. Check-out is by ten.
