The idea of the week
The one-way week from Bali to Flores, which turns the flight most people take into the best part of the trip. CELESTIA leaves Serangan harbour in Bali and works east along the north coast of Sumbawa: Kanawa and Kramat for the first swims, Saleh Bay for whale sharks at the fishing platforms, Moyo island for jungle waterfalls, Sangeang's volcano and boatbuilders, a beach camp at Gili Banta, and then three days in the national park itself.
Whale sharks at the platforms are the thing children talk about for years, and the adults too. The park days are the proven route: Gili Lawa's ridge, Manta Point, the dragons on Rinca, and Kalong's bats as the light goes.
Board in Bali after breakfast, fly home from Labuan Bajo. No need to go back to Bali first.

The park in three days
Gili Lawa's reefs and ridge, Manta Point, the Rinca dragons and Kalong's bats, in the order the tide and light suit.

A full day at Gili Banta with the camp set up, waterskis out and dinner grilled on the beach.
Day by day
Serangan, Bali · Board at Serangan, lunch and dinner under way
After breakfast the crew collect you and drive twenty minutes to the harbour. A welcome drink, introductions, and CELESTIA sails for Sumbawa. Lunch and dinner are outside on deck as Bali drops astern.
Kanawa and Kramat islands · First swims off Sumbawa's north coast, and a deserted beach
Wake to Sumbawa's north coast and the island of Kanawa for a walk and the first swim of the trip. Then east to Kramat, where the day is water toys and a deserted beach.
Saleh Bay and Moyo island · Whale sharks at the platforms, waterfalls in the jungle
An overnight sail brings you into Saleh Bay, where whale sharks gather under the fishermen's platforms. Snorkel or dive beside them at close range. Then north to Moyo island and an afternoon finding waterfalls in the jungle, before an overnight cruise to Sangeang.
The volcano, the boatbuilders, and a reef that bubbles
Sangeang's volcano fills the morning view. Ashore, shipwrights build wooden boats by hand as their grandfathers did. In the afternoon, hike the volcano's flank or snorkel and dive Hot Rock Reef, where volcanic gas bubbles through the seabed. Dinner, then on to Komodo.
A beach camp, waterskiing and grilled fish at sunset
A whole day on one island. The crew set up CELESTIA's beach camp on white and pink sand: idle beach time, waterskiing, the reef off the beach. Dinner is grilled fish and more on the beach as the sun sets.
Gili Lawa Darat and Gili Lawa Laut · Into the national park: the best dives, then the ridge
Welcome to Komodo National Park. The northern sites round Gili Lawa are among the best in Indonesia: trevally, groupers, sweetlips, barracuda and white-tip reef sharks. Before sunset, the ridge walk for the panorama over the bay.
Makassar Reef, Rinca, Kalong · Mantas, dragons, and the bats leaving for Flores
Makassar Reef, where the current carries plankton to the mantas, for a swim alongside them. After lunch, Rinca and a few hours trekking with a ranger to find the dragons and hear how they came to be here. At dusk, Kalong: thousands of bats leave the mangroves for Flores as the sun goes down.
Breakfast and the flight
A last breakfast on deck, then the crew help you ashore and to the airport for the flight home or on to Bali.
