Ahoy Club, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the iconic sailing yacht, Comanche, for the upcoming Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. This partnership underscores Ahoy Club’s commitment to excellence in the yachting industry and offers a unique opportunity to witness one of the most celebrated racing yachts in action.

The supermaxi Comanche is one of the fastest monohull sailing yachts in the world. Its top speeds have been recorded at around 40 knots (74 km/h or 46 mph) under optimal conditions.

By sponsoring Comanche, Ahoy Club aims to bring the thrill of competitive sailing to a wider audience. “At Ahoy Club, we are passionate about creating unforgettable moments on the water, whether through luxury getaways or the exhilaration of yachting as a sport,” said Ellie Malouf, CEO of Ahoy Club. “Yachting combines precision, strategy, camaraderie, and fun, and vessels like Comanche epitomise that spirit of adventure and excellence. Our partnerships are driven by a shared commitment to pushing boundaries, whether it’s breaking records on the water or crafting unparalleled guest experiences. We are thrilled to showcase Comanche’s extraordinary capabilities and continue inspiring both passion and performance in yachting.”

Ahoy Club recently attended the prestigious America’s Cup in Barcelona, further solidifying our presence in the global sailing community. We are also thrilled to announce our participation in the upcoming SailGP event in Sydney this February, where we have some exciting plans in store. These events highlight our ongoing support and enthusiasm for the sailing community worldwide.

Under Matt Allen and James Mayo, the 100ft super maxi took line honours on Tuesday 10 December SOLAS Big Boat Challenge on Sydney Harbour after leading throughout the two laps from Point Piper to Manly.

Comanche's latest win comes after the boat, often rated the world's most powerful 100ft yacht took both line and handicap honours in the Cabbage Tree Island Race.

Comanche, a 100-foot (33-meter) maxi yacht, has been a dominant force in the racing circuit since its launch in 2014. Designed by VPLP and Guillaume Verdier and built by Hodgdon Yachts for Dr. James H. Clark, Comanche was created to push technological boundaries and win prestigious yacht races. It stands as a testament to superior engineering and competitive sailing excellence.

Comanche has set numerous records, including the 24-hour monohull distance record (618 nautical miles at an average speed of 25.75 knots) and the monohull transatlantic sailing record (5 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes, and 25 seconds). The yacht has won line honours in races such as the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the Fastnet Race, setting the Sydney to Hobart race record in 2017 with a time of 1 day, 9 hours, 15 minutes, and 24 seconds.

Comanche has achieved multiple line honours, including the 2015 Fastnet race and the 2015 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. In 2017, it set a new Transpacific record, covering 484.1 nautical miles in 24 hours. In 2019, under navigator Stan Honey, Comanche won the 50th Transpacific Yacht Race in 5 days, 11 hours, 14 minutes, and 5 seconds. Comanche also won the 2017 and 2019 Sydney to Hobart races.

Designed for offshore racing, Comanche has an impressive track record, including breaking multiple transatlantic and distance records. For example:

• In 2015, Comanche set the 24-hour monohull speed record, covering 618 nautical miles at an average speed of 25.75 knots.
• In 2018, it completed the transatlantic crossing in just 5 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes, and 25 seconds, averaging 21 knots over the 2,880 nautical miles.

Its speed and performance are thanks to its cutting-edge design, including a wide beam, advanced foils, and a massive sail plan.

As Comanche sets sail under the Ahoy Club banner, the yachting world eagerly anticipates its performance in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. This partnership promises to deliver an extraordinary blend of luxury and high-performance sailing, offering a glimpse into the future of yacht charters.
