“Life is either a daring adventure
or nothing at all. ”
From April until October a large proportion of the (predominantly motor yacht) superyacht charter fleet is based here (many yachts head to the Caribbean for the winter) so there is plenty of choice.
Not all yachts have licences to charter throughout the entire region – ask about specific destinations such as the Balearics.
Many areas require you to have a licence to operate personal water craft such as jet skis; again, make sure or ask about yachts that are RYA approved and can certify you.
The Western Mediterranean is the spiritual heart of superyacht chartering; for decades the rich and famous have flocked to its golden shores to see and be seen. With annual events such as the Monaco Grand Prix and endless harbours bordered by the finest restaurants, this is still the busiest superyacht destination on the planet.
If you enjoy a good mix of shore-based fun, with plenty of shopping, history, eating and drinking then the Western Med is just perfect.
Plus the use of a yacht gives you privileged access to some of the most exclusive locations such as the island of Formentera near Ibiza or the fabulous Costa Smeralda in Sardinia.
A charter in the Western Mediterranean can satisfy almost any appetite: whether you are serious foodie, student of history and culture, dedicated fashionista, or someone who just enjoys being by the sea – the birthplace of superyacht charter is hard to beat.
