Yacht Charters Alicante

Costa Blanca’s Colourful & Relaxing Town

Located on Spain’s sundrenched Costa Blanca, the colourful town of Alicante is home to expansive picturesque beaches, palm tree-lined promenades and a foodie scene so divine you may wish for an entire week to sample it all. Alicante boasts a laid-back feel. Days stretch long. Timelines cease to be of importance. What matters most in Alicante is the famous Spanish phrase: la Comida es la Vida = food is life.

On a yacht charter of Alicante, you can sink deep into relaxation. Spend lazy days on the water, siesta at noon. Wander the city in the evening when the midday heat has passed, and the Old Town’s narrow streets begin to flourish with life. Stay out late, sleep in long. Eat, sleep and repeat it all again. Such is the addictive lifestyle of this enchanting little city.

When is the best time of year to charter a yacht in Alicante?

The Southern regions of Spain are known for their short winters and long warm months stretching from Spring all the way into Fall. This enviable weather makes this region appealing all year round. In fact, the luxury yacht charter season in Alicante is long. From March through to November, charters tender to these shores. Sunshine is always ready to radiate on anyone who visits.

This long season is split between the shoulder months and the peak months. The shoulder months, March, April, October and November, are naturally cooler. High teens to early 20°Cs can be expected during these periods.

May, June, July, August and September are all peak months. Berths at the port are full of private yacht charters of Alicante, the streets are humming with people, and the weather is warm enough to happily live in the sea.

Must-do Activities While Yacht Chartering In Alicante

Relatively small in size, Alicante is a perfect city to explore on foot. Beginning at the edge of the water, you can spend a day at the beach or on deck at the marina. Simply cross the road, and you’ve entered the centre. Bars, restaurants, shops and every service you could require are within just a short distance.

Such accessibility is a large part of Alicante’s appeal. With the time saved reaching each destination, more time can be spent taking it all in.

Explore Alicante’s Old Town

Unlike the rest of the city, a visit to Alicante’s Old Town is a window into the past. In 1691, Alicante was fired at from the sea. In the onslaught, 90% of the city was destroyed. This is evident in the current eclectic mix of modern and old-style buildings. The Old Town retains much of the pre-destruction architecture.

Beside the Town Hall can be found La Ciudad Descubierta (The Discovered City). This permanent exhibition shows the ruins of various houses destroyed by the bombardment and two walls that withstood the attack. One of the walls dates back to the 13th Century and the other to the 16th Century.

History aside, your boat charter of Alicante must include the Old Town. It’s simply a glorious sight, with beautiful baroque architecture, cobblestoned streets, narrow paths, ancient staircases and an abundance of Cathedrals. The winding little streets will have you lost and completely in love.

People Watch On The Promenade

Esplanada d’Espanya is a bustling palm-tree-lined promenade full of people day and night. All along the promenade are market stalls, bars and restaurants.

It is a favourite spot for locals and tourists to sit under the shade, enjoy a Spanish “cerveza” and take in bite-sized tapas.

Take Your Charter To Alicante’s Best Beaches

While you have an Alicante yacht charter, you will want to explore the expansive coastline and tender into the less populated beaches in the region.

La Granadella, Javea: twice named Spain’s best beach, this horseshoe bay offers turquoise waters with a surrounding landscape of pine trees and jagged cliffs. Popular among scuba divers and snorkelers, La Granadella is the perfect spot to spend a day.

Levante beach and Poniente beach, Benidorm: Within the same area, these two beaches are a Spanish favourite thanks to the mountains surrounding them, which offer protection from the winds. With somewhat of a warm microclimate, Levante and Poniente are popular among sunbathers.

They’re also the spot for pulling out the water toys, enjoying jet skiing, paragliding or other water sports that you can easily book onshore.

Delight Your Tastebuds

Spanish cuisine rarely disappoints, whether eating at an unassuming little hole in the wall or a Michelin star restaurant. In Alicante, this is especially true. If you avoid the main tourist paths, you can be almost certain any restaurant will meet your discerning tastes. To be on the safe side, however, we recommend:

Steki Restaurante: Awarded a Bib Gourmand by Michelin, Steki restaurant is a “good quality, good value” restaurant to which we can attest is fantastic quality and value. Dishes are Mediterannean based with a little twist to pay homage to the owners’ backgrounds of Mexican and Greek. This blend turns out surprising with fantastic flavours.

El Portal: Another Michelin recommendation, El Portal is a high-class venue with impeccable decor and food and drinks to match. Whether you sit here for a cocktail and small bites or book a table for a main, every morsel is magnificent, and the cocktails are utterly divine
